I’m looking forward to the moment when we’ll stop asking the following question to children: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” What not Who. We’re asking them which job they want to have, which profession, where they want to work… This is how we programme children: the most important thing in life will be the job you will choose.
If we want to raise happy people, people that develop their own value system and that feel fulfilled in life, we need to start asking different questions. What is important to you? What amazes you? What are your dreams? What do you wish to experience/learn? What do you love to do? What would you wish to share?
Let’s ask them how they want to be and not what they want to do in some far and distant future. Let’s allow them to be children and help them to keep and develop their precious personalities and they will discover themselves which activities correspond to their talents and their spirit.
